More information
*We do our best to cover most of mainland Scotland, but there may be occasions where our colleagues are not available. On this occasion we will help you source an alternative funeral director who aligns with our values and will provide you with the funeral you require.
**Did you know that all funeral directors are legally required to publish a Price List for a standardised set of products and services. This is to help you think through your options and make choices, and to let you compare prices between different funeral directors (because prices can vary).
***Our partners require an additional charge of £250 for any collection of the deceased which takes place from a location without mortuary facilities, such as a private residence, nursing home, residential home or hospice. As a not-for-profit social enterprise, we unfortunately can not absorb this cost and we therefore have to pass this charge onto the customer. If you are struggling to pay, we will do everything we can to support you.
We also have a special helpline for anyone considering claiming Funeral Grants or Benefits. These are officially known as the Funeral Support Payment or the Bereavement Support Payment.
The bereavement support helpline isn’t just for people who are using our service – we will help anyone facing financial problems because of a funeral. Many people are not aware that they are eligible, if they are then they won’t have to pay a penny for a funeral with us and they will get some money back to cover travel or a celebration of life. See our Funeral Costs Helpline page and Funeral Benefits page.
We also campaign for fairness in funerals in Scotland – fighting the problems and debt caused by UK Government funeral benefits policy and by the predatory parts of the For-Profit funeral industry. You can follow our campaign on Facebook or sign up to receive our newsletters at the side of the page.
Any profits are always reinvested in helping people in Scotland’s poorest communities who struggle to cope with bereavement. All donations are safeguarded by going through Community Renewal Trust, the registered charity which owns Caledonia Cremation.
